On compte:

Recipe: Get Sweeter Tasting Iced Tea with MAVEA

Today we showed you how to get crisper, cleaner, sweeter tasting iced tea by pre-purifying your water with MAVEA‘s expert water filtration system.

Iced tea is classic, refreshing and our go-to beverage when we’re craving something sweet. We love this recipe from Canadian Living:

1. Use enough tea bags
A stronger tea – such as Darjeeling, or green teas – is necessary to have a well-flavoured tea served cold. Use two tea bags for every 3 cups of water for best results.

2. Don’t oversteep
If you prefer your tea stronger, use more tea bags rather than lengthening the steeping time. Allowing tea to overstep brings out the tannins in the tea and can make it bitter. For weaker tea, reduce the steeping time rather than taking away tea bags for better flavour.

3. Add sugar to hot water
If you sweeten your tea, add the sugar to the hot tea in order to dissolve the grains. If you prefer to sweeten your tea afterwards as per each persons taste, use a simple syrup rather than granulated sugar which will leave sugar grains in your glass.

4. Cool before refrigerating
Putting hot tea into a cold fridge will make you tea cloudy. Allow you tea to cool before you refrigerate.  If you do end up with cloudy tea, try adding a bit of boiling water to it – it will sometimes do the trick!

5. Keep it real
Don’t use artificial lemon juice. Only use real fresh squeezed lemon juice from fresh lemons for the very best flavour.

6. Fresh is best
Iced tea taste best when it is freshly made. Make only what you will drink in two or three days. It’s easy to make, so don’t worry about having to mix up another batch!

Top secret iced tea ingredient: Sugar syrup
Keep this easy to make sugar syrup on hand to sweeten tea. It combines with cold tea much better than sugar.

In a measuring cup, whisk together 1 cup (250 mL) each granulated sugar and boiling water until clear and the sugar is dissolved. Makes 1-1/2 cups (375 mL)

*Brill tip: As we saw earlier, tea becomes more flavourful when the water is pre-purified by MAVEA. This extra step is simple and will having you feeling refreshed in no time!

The Brill Team

Take the MAVEA Tea Test Challenge

Did you know tea is the second most consumed beverage behind water? But on a humid day like today (29 degrees and climbing!) a piping hot cup of tea might just throw you off the edge. Why not brew your own fresh iced tea instead?

MAVEA‘s Tea Test Challenge makes the secret to crisp, clean water crystal clear. Their new generation filtration system perfectly filters water for a difference you can taste and see.

WATCH THE VIDEO + TAKE THE TEST

Compare the taste and clarity of two cups of tea – one with water boiled straight from the faucet, and the other boiled with water pre-filtered by MAVEA.

The result?

You can actually see the tea diffusing into the MAVEA filtered water quicker and more effectively. The taste is more flavourful; it’s crisp and clean, the way it was intended.

Here’s how… the difference is in the “next generation” design features:

  • No pre-soaking required to activate the carbon
  • Micro-mesh screen reduces the release of black carbon bits into the system
  • Silverized carbon prevents bacteria growth
  • Designed to significantly reduce calcium carbonate (the key to tea, hot or cold) and other unwanted elements including the taste and odour of chlorine
  • Pour-through lid allows ease of use
  • Microchipped filter change meter measures water hardness, time, and volume of filter water and lets you know exactly when to replace the filter

MAVEA Elemaris XL, super sleek in black

Don’t stop there… if this is what MAVEA can do for your iced tea, imagine what it could do for pasta, rice, vegetables and beyond…

In our next post we’ll share a recipe for our favourite iced tea.

Cheers,

The Brill Team

Salut,
L’équipe Brill
