Fashion Bulletin: Fall Trends We Covet

Out with summer, in with fall. Brill’s inspiration for the new season:

Desia: I LOVE 50’s fashions- classic, elegant and feminine- I am excited to wear dresses that cinch at the waist and flare in the skirt – I will continue searching for the perfect crimson to stain my lips; camels and nudes will replace chocolate and charcoal and black will be highlighted with hits of navy and cobalt – fall 2010 here I come.

Kate: Favourite fall trend is fur. Everyone from Fendi and Lanvin to Chanel and Burberry showcased amazing fur pieces that were absolutely drool worthy for fall. While these looks are a little out of my price range, I can’t wait to see what alternatives are available at Esprit, H&M and Zara.

Sherrill: The camel coat. It is the perfect neutral to pull together any look. Although the camel coat is always a staple in cold months this season you can update the chic staple by looking for something with a menswear feel to it.

LUNDSTRÖM

Lisa: Spending much of my working life in a black ensemble, I am really looking forward to incorporating the vibrant and exotic prints that we are seeing for fall/winter – I love, love, love Proenza Shouler’s bold mixing of patterns and Zac Posen’s feminine prints.

Ashley: Uniform dressing. Collegiate with a twist, a la Proenza Schouler. Jackets. The perfect trench. Knee socks. Collared shirts. Penny loafers for day and sky high wedges for night.

Jura: This season I love lace-up booties and chunky cone heels – these ones seen by Jerome C. Rousseau are to die for.

Bonne chance!

Ciao,

L’équipe Brill

Brill About Town | Toronto | Enoteca Sociale

I finally made my way to Enoteca Sociale, the west end Italian eatery I’d been dying to try. Party of four, please and thank you! We didn’t make reservations but the queue wasn’t as long as I had expected (whispers of 90+ minutes). The hostess in the leopard print tunic and black Audrey skinnies greeted us warmly, “The wait time is 30-40 minutes but I can take down your name and number and suggest Brockton General for drinks across the street.”

Fancy that. A glass of pinot grigio later and we were seated on the patio – because dining alfresco is the only way. The patio was quaint but lively; think large full trees with a canopy effect and tiny white lights strung from the branches, blue and white gingham napkins, and a neighbourhood vibe.

The waiter promptly brought us a round of Prosecco (summer sip of choice) and shared his recommendations. I ordered the spaghetti cacio e pepe; flavourful and cooked perfectly il dente. I highly suggest indulging in the cheese menu – it is Nonna’s specialty after all.

Tried tested and true:

  • Benedictine bleu
  • Chevre noir
  • Rocchetta
  • Moliterno
  • San Pietro

After dinner we were treated to a tour of Enoteca Sociale‘s infamous cheese cave – a chilled room where they age selected flavours. I told you, this place is serious about cheese. Enoteca Sociale is the perfect spot for a group gathering or a first date. Delizioso!

Question pour vous…

Qu’ont en commun Kiss My Face, le camping et l’organisme caritatif Seeds of Peace? Facile!

Salut!
