Brill Holiday List | Desia

What I’m gifting: What I am giving my hubby – it won’t be a surprise if I tell you but I will give you a hint – it’s not a tie. LOL. No seriously though – he is an amazing cook and LOVES anything for the kitchen.  Our latest obsession: STAUB.

What we’re coveting: A cozy night  in counting down to 2011, drinking Veuve and digging into a delicious winter treat – cheese fondue.

What I’m gifting: Dad – he doesn’t need anything and every time I ask he says he doesn’t want anything either – while I find that extremely hard to believe I think I’ve finally figured out what to get him. Come Christmas morning he’ll unwrap a digital picture frame already uploaded with a variety of pics from various occasions and locations from the last 30 years, come on is that a good gift or what?

What I’m coveting: It’s been two years since I purchased my very first home, erggg condo and while I do love the baby pink tiles, ‘limited’ counter space and shoe box shower, what I really want from Mr. Claus is a new bathroom. I can picture it now, heated floors, marble counter tops, modern vanity, grotto shower – ok maybe thats a little too playboy mansion but you get what I’m saying right?

What I’m gifting: I’m going to sign my mother and I up for cooking classes. She doesn’t need it but I thought it could be a fun way for us to spend time together and learn something new.

What I’m coveting: My husband and I moved into our first home and I’d really like a modern new quartz stone countertop for the kitchen!

What I’m gifting: My Mum and I were at Teatro Verde a few weeks ago and she went nuts over this book with Clint Eastwood’s face on it. It’s called Wisdom and it’s a glossy photo book by Andrew Zuckerman who set out to reveal the truths of luminaries like Judi Dench, Jane Goodall, Frank Gehry, Ted Kennedy, and more. I had no idea she was such a Clint Eastwood fan so this will surely make her smile.

What I’m coveting: I’ve always wanted a classic tea set – what could be more wonderful? Such a nice thing to have. The more ornate the better.

What I’m gifting: Finally having more time to pursue her passions, my mother has once again taken up art classes. Every time I come home, she’s excited to show me her latest works: still lifes, portraits – you name it, she’s sketched it! That’s why I thought I’d buy her this Deluxe Sketching Artist Box. With graphite pencils, charcoal sticks, lead sticks and so much more, this kit has everything an artist may need.

What I’m coveting: When I am asked what I would like for Christmas, my usual answer is “Hmm, I don’t know!” This year is a little different as I do have a few things on my list. One of them is a lovely Diptyque candle, especially the “Feu de Bois” one. I just love the wood fire fragrance, which makes any room feel cosier on a cold winter day.

Beauty Bulletin: Winter Essentials, Inspired by Garance

We can always count on blogger and fashion face Garance Doré for a daily dose of inspiration. Last week Garance illustrated her favourite beauty products and we loved it so much we decided to render the bottles and potions lining our vanities this winter.

Illustration by one of our own, Jura Landry.

J.R. Watkins Shea Butter Body Cream – Rich and whipped to perfection with yummy scents like Lavender, Vanilla, and Mango, this cream is an office favourite for its delicate moisturizing and all-natural properties.

Deborah Lippmann glitter lacquer – A couple of coats of Today Was a Fairytale is the perfect accessory this holiday season and contains virgin diamond powder.

Cromwell and Cruthers Shaving Oil – Borrowed from the boys, the natural formula hydrates the skin and keeps it silky smooth. Call it the boyfriend shave.

ORIBE Signature Moisture Mask – Give good hair with a weekly super indulgence that leaves our locks luscious. Pure luxury from the master of the mane himself.

Kiss My Face lip balm – The answer to saving our pouts from winter’s harshest elements. The subtle maple sugar flavour has guilt-free gourmand appeal that’s oh-so-Canadian (handmade right here in Canada).
