Brill About Town | Toronto| e11even

Just a hop, skip and a jump away from the Brill office, it’s a wonder we hadn’t tried it sooner; e11even wowed our senses and pleasantly surprised us with some of the best service we’ve had in a while.

Conveniently located in the heart of the downtown entertainment district (right outside the Air Canada Centre), e11even is the perfect stop for an after-work meal that is anything but bland. If it’s been a hard day don’t hesitate to try one of the many wines offered, which can be easily browsed by type or country on your table’s personal iPad. You can be sure you’ll get a harmonious complement to your meal with suggestions coordinated by Jennifer Huether, Canada’s only female Master Sommelier.

After your meal (we highly recommend the signature roast chicken with country stuffing and mashed potatoes), be sure to try one of the delectable desserts. While we had heard e11even is known for its key lime pie, we took a gamble and tried the peanut butter mousse. Jackpot! The mousse is the perfect consistency and the in-house made ice cream accompanying it is bananas, literally and figuratively.

Overall, we give e11even an eleven out of ten.

En Francais SVP | L humoriste internet de l’annee… Norman !

Il y a quelque temps, j’ai découvert ce nouvel humoriste du web, Norman ou plutôt Norman fait des vidéos.

C’est qui : un jeune Français qui créer des vidéos en direct de sa chambre et les post ensuite sur sa chaine youtube. Il se moque de la vie en général et fait aussi de l’autodérision.

C’est quoi : Des vidéos sur différents sujets comme le permis, les chemises, les filles ou encore les addicts Apple.

Ça s’adresse à qui : à tout le monde !! Et surtout aux ados et jeunes adultes qui se reconnaissent dans tous les sujets dont Norman parle, et qui ont surtout envie de rire et de se détendre en regardant une tonne de vidéos Youtube.

En bref : C’est génial !  Je suis une fan de ses capsules web. Ça me fait toujours rire et je vous conseille de vous amusez un peu et de les regarder !

Norman à récemment été invité à faire le tour du monde en 4 épisodes avec la marque de chocolat Crunch. Voici l’épisode numéro 3, Norman déchire à Hawaii !

Danier designer collaborations officially launch in store

OBJECT by George Antonopoulos for Danier

Renowned Canadian fashion stylist and director George Antonopoulos returns to Danier for his second design collection. OBJECT Spring 2012 exhibits his signature minimalist aesthetic, re-imagined to incorporate the designer’s contemporary mod inspiration. Each season, OBJECT aims to provide key pieces to complete a stylish wardrobe.

Philip Sparks for Danier

Toronto-based Canadian designer Philip Sparks creates pieces inspired by a blend of classic tailoring and contemporary design. En Francais SVP | Wish-list des films francais que je dois voir dans les prochaines semaines

Comme  je ne vis plus à Paris, il est parfois difficile d’être à jour avec toutes les nouvelles sorties cinémas. Cependant, il faudra bien rattraper le temps perdu, et pour cela, je viens de créer une petite wish-list des films français que je dois regarder d’ici la fin du printemps !

La vérité si je mens 3

J’ai adoré les deux premiers films et je suis impatiente de voir le nouveau. Les histoires sont toujours drôles et les personnages sont sympathiques et attachants. Cette fois ci, une partie du film se déroule en Chine.

Hollywoo

Je suis une grande fan de Florence Foresti, et malgré les critiques plutôt mauvaises du film, je crois qu’il  vaut le détour. Puis un film un peu léger et rigolo ne fait jamais de mal à personne !

Comme un Chef

La sortie au cinéma de Comme un chef est pour demain au Québec. C’est certainement un film qui m’attire beaucoup d’autant plus que Jean Reno est un très bon acteur ! J’ai même eu la chance de le rencontrer il y a quelques années.

Intouchables

Finalement, le film de l’année, Intouchables. J’en ai tellement entendu parler et je dois absolument voir cette comédie dans les prochaines semaines.

Brill About Town | Toronto | Milagro Cantina Mexicana

Based on some he-said, she-said, we decided to see for ourselves if Milagro Cantina Mexicana really did boast some of the most authentic Mexican food around. Note: we’ve all been to Mexico so it was a tough crowd!

Upon entering Milagro, Mexican culture is definitely evident – décor, music and even our fantastic server (complete with Mexican name and accent), fit the bill. We started off with the guacamole as our appetizer, which set the standards of our meals to follow high.


We chose the tostadas de mariscos (seafood on tortillas), tacos rosaritos (shrimp tacos), tacos de tinga (chicken tacos), cochinita pibil (pulled pork) and the pork pibil burrito. It only took one bite for our unanimous verdict: delicious.

Huge portions, authentic flavor and a totally reasonable price point makes Milagro a must-go for any lover of Mexican food. Muchos Gracias Milagro!

Brill Round Up – Basch It Up/Basch/Lovas FW 2012 Shows

Fashion Week is in full force at the Brill office, and the student competition Basch It Up followed by the Basch and Lovas runway shows were the perfect kick-off event last week! Held at 99 Sudbury, the venue housed many of Toronto’s fashion elite for the highly anticipated show. Of course, the Brill Team was there to make sure it all went swimmingly.

The Basch It Up student design competition started the night featuring home-grown talent from Seneca College, Ryerson University, Academy of Design, George Brown College and Fanshawe College. Participants took part in the show with the hopes of having their piece featured in the Basch line, as well as securing an amazing grand prize including a shopping spree and internship at Eleventh Floor Apparel Ltd. Sarah McGowan from George Brown College wowed the judges, whose panel consisted of EFA’s General Manager Tamar Matossian, Basch and Lovas designer Wesley and fellow designers Arthur Mendonca and David Dixon, to win the competition.

Next up was Basch, which showcased plenty of beautiful knee-length deep wine shade dresses, a stand-out fur coat and a selection of gorgeous gowns that the line has come to be known for. Under new design leadership by Wesley Badanjak, the collection was lady-like and sophisticated, making it perfect for your next cocktail event.


The night finished off on a strong note with Wesley’s ultra-luxe line Lovas.  Full of textured pieces such as ombre shaded tweed skirts and jackets, feather and sequin detailed pieces and embellished necklines with cinched waists, made the line a showstopper. Those pops of cobalt blue didn’t hurt either!

En Francais SVP | Evenement Air Canada

Vendredi dernier avait lieu un événement Air Canada afin de célébrer les 75 ans de la compagnie.

L’équipe Brill et moi-même avons participé de près à la réalisation de cette journée en nous occupant de la partie médiatique mode.

La compagnie aérienne s’est offert un beau cadeau pour ces 75 ans, soit un Boeing 787 qui fera son premier vol au courant de l’année 2014.

Lors de cet événement, nous avons aussi assisté  à une rétrospective des différents uniformes Air Canada depuis la fin des années 30.

Conclusion :

Une journée réussie, ainsi que beaucoup d’attractions et kiosques qui nous ont certainement donné l’envie de voyager plus souvent!
