Diary of an Intern | Sophie’s Yoga adventures

What started off as peer pressure from a roommate a couple of years ago, has now become a slight obsession – like many others, I’m hooked on yoga. For those who are hesitant to try it, I understand; I used to think of it as an hour-long waste of time that didn’t burn nearly as many calories as a good run, but now I reap all the benefits that this low-risk injury workout has to offer. Regular yoga practice can help lower levels of anxiety, anger and depression and I think we could all stand to smile a little more.

That being said, for anyone looking to add yoga into their workout regime, or maybe just try a new studio, these are my top 3 recommendations conveniently located in the GTA…

Moksha Yoga:  With locations scattered all over the world (6 in the GTA) and a green philosophy, Moksha is the perfect studio for the eco friendly jetsetter. Monthly passes are globally transferable so no matter where your travels take you there’s time to squeeze in some Warrior 1. Gorgeous amenities and heated class options come standard.

Downward Dog Yoga Centres: Their two locations at Queen West Trinity Bellwoods and the Beaches offer great class selections, workshops, and are set in more outdoorsy and activity based neighborhoods.

Yoga Tree: In addition to their exceptional class selection and instructors, Yoga Tree offers the widest range of class times whether you’re an early riser or after-work-yogie.
